Strange behavior in Ubuntu 6.10

When I had the problem, I run "Nautilus" from the terminal and I didn't get
any error, but it didn't display anything either, then I pressed Ctrl+C and
continued with the problem. Now I'm trying to reproduce the behavior but
haven't had any success.
