You might want to check to see if it needs a firmware upgrade.  The version
number is on the bottom of the router in tiny print.  I just installed one
and doing the 192.168.1.1 gave me a really strange screen.  I am a newbie
but would suggest setting it up as "open" while you are working on it and
then making modifications.   I have installed six of them and have them go
easy and had them make me rip my hair out (on both mr. bill and ubuntu so it
does not seem to discriminate).
