Connect to server

Hi,

I'm using the ubuntu default application 'connect to server'. I can connect
to any server, but i'm not sure how can i check the file or folder
permission. This is because when i try to right click the go to permission
tab, it always display 'the permission of xxx file could be be display'

So, anybody know how can i check and change the permission for a file?
