Well I don't. I see just a whole bunch of gibberish. This is quite an
eye-opener. What happened?

$ cat /etc/fstab
# /etc/fstab: static file system information.
#
# <file system> <mount point>   <type>  <options>       <dump>  <pass>
proc            /proc           proc    defaults        0       0
# /dev/sdb2
UUID=7647b170-58c6-4334-9ccf-39a88aec8130 /               ext3
defaults,errors=remount-ro 0       1
# /dev/sdb5
UUID=8bd3a040-c852-46dd-b4c5-e1a17ed0b078 none            swap    sw
          0       0
/dev/hda        /media/cdrom0   udf,iso9660 user,noauto     0       0
/dev/hdb        /media/cdrom1   udf,iso9660 user,noauto     0       0
-----

And I'm missing two external USB drives which I know are there because I
just accessed files on both before checking the fstab entries.

So please, enlighten us as to what you found.
