usb devices does not mount automatically

This problem was noticed on the 5.10 version of Ubuntu. I hopped that,
with the upgrade to Dapper it would be solved. The fact is: the usb
devices (pendrives, digital cameras, etc.) does not mount and is shown
on the Desktop. When I plug a device on the usb port it appears on the
syslog, but only the root (through a sudo command) can mount it. How can
it be solved?
