Ati Radeon graphics card support

Hi!
I'm not sure if this is the solution for your problem, but you might try
the following if indeed only your laptop-monitor goes blank when X is
started (you should see the console-outputs before alright).
When the laptop-screen goes blank, switch to another terminal (e.g.
control+alt+f6 [f7 is your X terminal by default]) and open
/etc/X11/xorg.conf with a editor like nano (or if you're freakish enough
use Vi) like that: 'nano xorg.conf'. Then look for your device-section
where your graphics-card settings are written down. Identifier should be
something with 'Radeon' and driver 'fglrx' or something...
You have got to add a line there:
Option "MonitorLayout" "LVDS,NONE"
Then restart your X-Server and your laptop-screen SHOULD work fine then.
At least, this helped me with a similar problem on an Acer 1694 WLMI.
Hope this helps. If not, just delete the line again.
Greets,
tobias
