Depreciated!?  Care to elaborate more on this?  And check what and
where?

It's still available from ‘apt-get’ and description of these packages
doesn't say they're out-dated, deprecated, obsoleted, or ‘dummy package
to make upgrading process easy’.  So, please explain.
