Sypheed (I use Sylpheed-Claws) does the html-message drill via a plugin
that uses Dillo as its browser. Usually this plug-in is part of the
basic package (I install from source, and it compiles automatically).
So perhaps all you need to do is install Dillo and activate the p
lug-in from within SC. I think it also can use gtkhtml. It's not as
clean as the html rendering in Thunderbird; but I've found it more
flexible in a number of other little ways such that the somewhat
primitive html rendering is much less an issue for me. And under
preferences, you can set html messages to appear as text. So you
still get the information and links. Anyway, try Sylpheed-Claws with
Dillo and see if that comes closer to meeting your needs...
Best,
Pete
