https://www.edubuntu.org/ has some links (faq, screenshots,
geetingstarted) it installs an ubuntu ltsp server by default, the only
thing you need to do after install is to set up the dhcpd.conf (see
http://wiki.edubuntu.org/LTSPServerSetup its very easy.
there is no such feature like "push icons to desktop" but the people on
the edubuntu mailing list have scripts and reciepes for such stuff that
might help.
