DD xserver font problem

I managed to get around this problem. I thought it was due to the xfonts-base 
package not being installed, but that was already there. To my surprise there 
were no fonts in /usr/share/X11/fonts/misc. I tried reinstalling the 
xfonts-base package but it did not work. Then I copied from a working Breezy 
Badger th e /usr/share/X11/fonts/misc over to the failing PC and now I have a 
KDM login prompt. When I enter my passwd I am returned back to the KDM login. 
What would be the problem here?

In daemon.log I see the error
kdm_greet: Internal error: memory corruptionj detected

Any ideas?
