Do you hear the sound correctly in those 4 seconds (without popping or
hissing)?
Try deleting ‘~/.xine/catalog.cache’ and play the files again. If that
didn't work (which is to be expected), re-do the hint again. In
‘~/.xine/catalog.cache’ search for ‘id=win32a’ and a few (about 2 or 3)
lines below it change the line that reads:
decoder_priority=1
to:
decoder_priority=7
