Command line parameters in launchers...?

Is there a list anywhere of the parameter substitution codes for
launcher command lines?
"%f", for example, seems to be the filename of a file that is dragged
and dropped onto a launcher icon. The firefox launcher uses "%u" though,
and it still works - perhaps the bare filename is massaged into a URL,
so "temp.txt" becomes file:///home/kauer/temp.txt"...?
Anyway, it would be good to have solid info.
That person wanting a simple file viewer could set up a launcher with
the command "gnome-terminal -x less %f", and it would open and display
any file dragged and dropped onto it.
Regards, K.
