What does:
# gtf 1280 800 60
show you (without 915resolution)? I'm fairly certain your system natively
supports 1280 x 800. I wish more people would just try to use the
resolutions that really exist instead of trying ugly hacks like
855resolution and 915resolution.
If gtf gives you a modeline, stick that in your xorg.conf, point your modes
to it and you're done:
