vim-gome half-installs

Hi there.

I tried installing vom-gnome. It didn't work, and told me to dun "dpkg
--configure -a" to fix things up. That ran OK and configured a few libs;
it now runs with no output, which I assume is good. But vim-gnome is now
marked in Synaptic with a yellow highlight and the upgrade icon, and I
cannot unmark it.

If I mark it for complete removal, I get told that dpkg was interrupted,
that "the package is in a very bad inconsistent state" and (again) to
run "dpkg --configure -a". And Synaptic then exits.

Synaptic, when restarted, still shows the package highlighted yellow,
and with the upgrade icon.

Any ideas? Either for installing the package correctly or for fully
deinstalling it?

Regards, K.
