TVtime : why does it eat my CPU ?? :-(

Hmmm, TVtime has been running for a few hours now, and go figure,
overall (TVtime + Xorg) CPU usage has dropped to a very acceptable 5% or
so ! That's good enough.
I don't quite get why it would vary over time though, I am confused...
