Correcting a screen offset in X

Very weird, the only thing more standard than 1024 x 768 is 800 x 600. 
I'd be interested to know what causes this (monitors are a pet 
subject of mine). Which driver are you using, and does it make a 
difference if you use the ati proprietary driver?

Any chance you could send me your /var/log/Xorg.0.log when started at 
that resolution? - send it off list, at 50k it might upset folks on 
the list
