Thunderbird and default web browser

Using GNOME I made the change of my default browser there to Opera and when clicking on a html files it opens correctly in the proper browser.  However when I  am in Thunderbird I get the KDE conquerer browser.

try sudo update-alternatives --all that will ask you to set defaults for
everything there is a single one to change its something like
x-www-browser  that is the one you want to set for thunderbird.
