Alarm or PIM for Ubuntu

First, I have to thank you for mentioning Kalarm. I've been wanting 
something like it and I didn't realize Kalarm existed.

As for your situation, if you can't figure out what else it needs, you 
could use the "command" option to run a Gnome program (e.g. totem) to 
play the audio file you want.
