Don't use Automatix - it is not safe (at least it wasn't the last time I
checked). Even it it were safe, it would be too much for your situation.
I believe all you need to do in this case is to make the correct
symbolic link from /usr/local/something to /usr/share/firefox/plugins,
which is probably documented in the jre package somewhere.
