All I did was install WPA Supplicant, and it worked fine.

If you've manually installed WPA supplicant, or have it loading on
boot it might cause issues with NM.  The Dapper packages disabled the
startup scripts for WPA Supplicant, and NM invokes WPA Suppilcant only
as needed.
