Hmmm, that's a nice idea.. haven't played with that yet. I have a similar
problem since I'd also like to play bridge online. I would be really happy if
I'd get the Dutch “StepBridge” to work but that's highly unlikely to succeed
on the short run.

I've fiddled a bit with the BridgeBaseOnline software in WINE. It's doable
but needs a bit of work (Let me know if you need help). I've managed to get
BBO to start up but it quickly freezes the entire machine. I strongly suspect
a memory leak somewhere but haven't had the time to play with it much.
