Just my impression from an article I once read. Do you mean that BSD
used some kind of package manager that separated out libraries and
applications, or that there were libraries in BSD? There weren't any
shared libraries in the versions of BSD I was using back then (4.2 on a
VAX 11/780!), but I cannot remember how apps were installed.
