Subject: problem
how can i play movies
Assuming mean commercial DVDs You will nees to install a player
I recommend Totem Xine, there are others but that is what I have had the most luck with.
You will also have to have the codecs for the file type.
Some of these are patent protected, so if you don't also have software which is licensed to use those codecs present ON THE SAME MACHINE You may be not be legal to use them, depending on your locale.
I don't have the url handy, but please read "restricted formats" in the Ubuntu wiki.
You might find info concerning this also in the Unofficial guide, http://easylinux.info has taken over that project as of breezy.
