[Dapper] 686 kernel doesn't shutdown properly

Installed the 686 kernel - after all I am running a  Pentium III - and discovered it does not shutdown properly. It turns off the HD, but the power light on the computer remains lit. All you have to do is turn it off manually...but.....The last thing on the screen is sending TERM to all processes (or something like that --I'm at work now)I guess its a bug ??
