Moving icons on panels

You probably have the lock to panel option turned on. 

Right-click on the icon you want to move. If there is a check mark
beside 'Lock To Panel', click on this option to remove it. You should
be able to move the icon now by using the Move option in the
right-click menu or by clicking the middle button on a three-button
mouse and holding it while you drag the icon to a new location.
