[Dapper] failure to install flight 5

Although Ubuntu 5.10 installed without problem on my dual opteron (MSI
K8T Master2 -FAR, nvidia FX5200, 2GB) I seem unable to install Dapper.

I have tried various boot otions (noapic, nolapic, VGA settings,
probe usb=false) but without success.

When I boot the install disk, the kernel seems to uncompress and then
the screen goes blank.

I got the same response with the flight 1 cd some time ago, which I
reported to this list.

This seems odd to me given 5.10 was fine.  Can anyone suggest a boot
parameter that might work?
