breezy to dapper upgrade problems

I just tried to upgrade from breezy to dapper and am having some
troubles running X.

To try and eliminate problems, I did a fresh breezy install on a spare
partition. When the install was complete I changed the sources.list
to point to the dapper repositories. Ran aptitude update; aptitude
dist-upgrade a couple times to make sure all the new packages were
installed properly (didn't get any errors) and rebooted.

Booting into dapper with the 2.6.15 kernel the system froze when it
tried to load gdm. Booting with the old 2.6.12 kernel gdm loads and i
can log in to gnome but windows aren't drawn properly. FVWM behaves
the same way.

I've temporarily posted the Xorg.0.log file at
http://berg.selfip.net/Xorg.0.log.

I'd appreciate any help. I'm not sure what else to try. Settings in
my xorg.conf file are correct.
