Totem and .wmv files...

The conversion to Ubuntu 5.10 on the new laptop (HP Pavilion
zd8000) is pretty much complete and has gone very smoothly. One
of the small problems I'm having is with Totem playing .wmv
files. It's using the xine backend, and I have the codecs from
the mplayer "essential" file installed in /usr/lib/win32 (I
think that's where they are - I'm not at that machine right
now) and Totem will play .mov files flawlessly, *some* .wmv
files play fine, while other .wmv files have only snippets
of the audio (the video is fin), and most .mpg files play with
no audio, although some .mpg files won't play at all.

Interestingly enough, mplayer on a Debian Sarge machine will
play all of them (the exact same files) with no problems.

Any suggestions about where to start looking for solutions
would be appreciated.
