thanks.  This gets me a little closer but I still
don't know how to disable totem gstreamer.

I ran the locate command and got this:

/usr/lib/mozilla-firefox/plugins/libtotem_mozilla.xpt
/usr/lib/mozilla-firefox/plugins/libtotem_mozilla.so
