Hi. On my M170, the subwoofer is controlled through the Main Mono control.
Right click on the volume icon in the upper right corner, select Edit >
Preferences and enable the Main Mono control slider.

I don't know if that will clear up your sound problems, but I know my sound
is AWFUL until I get the subwoofer into action.
