Hello,
in Linux you do not download prgrams off the internet to install them
(like you do in Windows).
If you need a certain peace of software, you first use Synaptic Package
manager to see if there is already a suitable program in the software
vault. This package manager is your central software control:

Wine, for example, can be installed using Synpatic:
<https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Wine>
In very rare cases when there no suitable package in the software vault
you are forced to download a program of the Internet and install it.
