I gave Lives a try, but I don't have much luck with it sadly. It install
fine, but the performance is very poor, it's extremely slow and
unresponsive, it's not usable :o(
For example it takes 30 seconds to start. Then, I tried to open a small
5 minute long movie clip, and it took more than 5 minutes to load ! I
dread toi think how long it would take to open a complete 90 minute
film ! :-O
Then, once loaded, the controls (play/pause...) are very
sluggish/unresponsive, really not usable at all.
I don't know what wrong. I tried with another video editing program
("avidemux"), and it opens the file instantly and is perfectly
responsive.
Also, on the homepage of lives it says that's it's free and open source,
so I wonder why it's not in the Ubuntu repos...
