udev: /dev/null: permission denied (created with wrong permissions)

Hi there.  When I start the system, or run /etc/init.d/udev restart,
/dev/null is created with permissions 0660.  This should *never*

This is a pretty fresh Breezy installation.

I don't like raising bugs this high priority, but this really is an
awful bug.

For the benefit of those googling and finding this bug, here's the

  1. switch to a console login (Ctrl+Alt+F1)

  2. log in, run these commands:

    cd /dev
    sudo ./MAKEDEV std

  3. Your system is temporarily fixed, you can either disable udev:

    sudo update-rc.d -f udev remove

     or try to upgrade it:

    sudo apt-get update
    sudo apt-get install udev

    If it says "you already have the latest version of udev", you
    either do not have updates configured, or there is no update yet
