dhcp hostname

man 5 interfaces:
...
      Options

              hostname hostname
                     Hostname to be requested (pump, dhcpcd, udhcpc)

So just put a line in /etc/network/interfaces after dhcp iface line
saying 'hostname ubuntu' or whatever you like.
