any chance xgl will work for Dell laptop inspiron 700m?

You can try it your self install xserver-xgl and compiz, but based
on me trying it on a radeon card and savage both with an open
source driver, it isn't likely. But some of it will maybe work, but
it's highly beta piece of software. It will probably require at least
7 months so stabilize, but we never know. 3D graphics isn't and
hasn't been great on linux except with binary driver, but radeon
it at least acceptable. This will proablly give greater pressure to
make then better, a sort of a benchmark for graphics card drivers
for linux like Doom3.
