iPod / Amarok / Buffer I/O Issues

I've just purchased two iPods - both appear to work fine using iTunes on
Windows.

Both have been formatted as FAT32, using the Apple iPod CD on Windows.

When plugged via USB into my Ubuntu (Dapper) computer, I get the
following information through dmesg :

I am able to see existing files both via the desktop 'iPod' icon that
appears, and also via amarok (compiled with libgpod support
deliberately for this purpose).

Any attempt to transfer files via amarok (1.4-SVN downloaded yesterday)
results in the following during the first attempt at file transfer :

kio_file: WARNING: Couldn't preserve access and modification time for

/data/iPod_Control/Music/f00/kpod0384942.mp3

*** glibc detected *** free(): invalid pointer: 0x08444958 ***

and Amarok then hangs.

Attempting to use gtkpod acts as if the files are syncronized, and I
get a 'Successfully Track Update' message, but no files are transferred
to the unit. Choosing 'Update' causes a segmentation fault.

Has anyone else experienced this behaviour, or have suggestions as to
what to consider next?

Thanks,

Steve
