sound problem

Ok, sound works now with all applications I tried including system
sounds and skype. But recording doesn't work. I tried it with skype,
arecord and gnome-sound-recorder. I used gnome-volume-control to play
around, unmute record device etc. but it doesn't help. Any idea?
