Canon FB636U scanner not working

I'm rather curious as to why I've not had a response to this query. Am I
just expecting too much?
I realise that a response is never guaranteed on a mailing list, but
even someone telling me I'm a complete idiot for daring to ask the
question would be something.
Or maybe I didn't ask the question in the right way. If so someone
please tell me what I need to do to pose better questions.
I only ask because it's not the first time I've asked a question and go
no response.
