Synaptic is trying to update to a lower version

the simple answer is it wont work unless you recompile all packages that
link to the 1.4.2 version. the list of packages below are either
compiled against that specific version or depend on a package that is.
there might be more ... so if oyu dont have a really really urgent
reason to use that version and if you dont have a week of spare time to
recompile all dependencys, dont use it.
