I really don't understand your statement "very early in the cycle". You 
did use similar kind of argumentation in the reply on my mail (cf. 
thread Lost in upgrade from dapper to edgy):
"You achieved (1), but in the current state of edgy, it is to be 
expected that its repository is broken: the package merge from sid is in 
full progress. See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/EdgyReleaseSchedule
You probably chose a better time for upgrading breezy to dapper."
Well, as far as I remember, I added repos for dapper in less than two 
weeks after releasing breezy and (as I stated in my mail in mentioned 
thread) the upgrading went very smoothly - that's why I'm little curious 
about current situation.
I'm definitely no developer, I can handle some minor problems, 
especially connected with  setting the system, so I'll wait patiently 
untill July 13.
Thank you and all Ubuntu people for your work, I really appreciate it.
