How to remove Kubuntu?

hint: use --purge (apt-get --purge remove <whatever>) to also remove
any configs left behind.

as for the Kubuntu start-up, the package is kubuntu-artwork-usplash

if you want a list of packages installed by kubuntu-desktop, (that
aren't installed by default on ubuntu) i can manage that for you (with
no promise it will work/won't break anything).
