Might I suggest that you file a bug report in launchpad?  I 
use firefox daily and I only experience crashes when I have 
the flash plugin loaded.  And since the flashplugin is 
non-free you can't really fault Ubuntu for that.  Try 
unloading(uninstalling) the flashplugin and see if you still 
get crashes.  Depending on what your using the flashplugin 
for, there are alternatives that might suite you better.
