Password missing & Create new user

OK if you have the current root password. AND the root account is NOT
actually disabled...

You can try <ctrl>+<alt>+<F2>
Which should get you to a virtual console (TEXT MODE) login screen.
type root at the login prompt, hit enter to get to the password prompt,
type the password, and hit enter...

	-or-	

If you need root privileges in the gui, and your user ID is a sudoer,
you could log in as that user though the graphic login then open a
terminal window. And use sudo. 

	-or-	

If you need the gui, your current user account is NOT set up as a
sudoer, BUT you have set up a working root account you could open a
terminal window, and try "su root -c command" which will actually ask for
the root password... And MAY get past the sudoer thing...
