Yes, imagemagick (specifically the convert command) is a real
swiss-army knife. (But I bet it took a long time to figure out all the
geegaws on your swiss army knife, too!)
The convert man page is not helpful, and the URL it shows for the docs
is not correct for the Ubuntu package.
You will find the help files at /usr/share/doc/imagemagick/ -- put
this link in your browser:

BTW: A few weeks ago I complained that these pages and others are not
in the Ubuntu online help, and at that time I learned I need to file
bugs against each package having that problem. I never did... but
today I found a related bug already filed and have tacked my comment
onto it: Bug #46482
