Error message (WAS Celestia crashes laptop)

Thanks for the earlier suggestion to run the application from a 
terminal. I did so, and the following error message was repeated four 
times before the program started:

X Error: BadDevice, invalid or uninitialized input device 168
Major opcode: 145
Minor opcode: 3
Resource id: 0x0
Failed to open device

Can anyone point me in the right direction to learn what this means?
