Jean,

Thank-you so much for your help!

Ok, so I am very new to linux. I know about Terminal and command lines
in general, but have very little experience with it in linux.

I have made a backup copy of xorg.conf. A question though, to do so I
went into terminal, navigated to etc/X11, and then used:

sudo cp --backup xorg.conf xorg_backup.conf

How am I going to be able to edit xorg.conf through the GUI as I am a
limited user? I needed to use sudo in order to back xorg.conf up. Is
there a way to temporarily run as ROOT?

I would appreciate instructions on starting and restopping X.

How do I go about installing xinerama?

And slightly unrelated. Is there a way to get to a command line
without using the GUI? As in, is there an underlying command line
interface that I can use if X crashes?

Other than that I think I can figure this out. It's a little easier
for me as both monitors are identical (at least I think it will be
easier).

Thanks again.

Emil
