Dcraw is the backend for ufraw, and also has a Gimp plugin.  Ufraw is a (very
good) wrapper for dcraw.

If you don't mind spending money, the Bibble program suite from Eric Hyman is
well worth a look, as it has many advanced features both for image processing
and workflow.  However, it isn't free and the latest Linux version is still a
tad unstable as well as needing tweaks to the distributed .deb to run on Ubuntu
(6.06).

More information at www.bibblelabs.com.  Trial is free, but have a look through
the forums for potential problems (and fixes) for the current Linux version.
