Softmodem query

Hi All,
received my order from Ubuntu this morning, many many thanks
Have just installed it on a neighbours machine also running Win XP,
have a query about getting his modem to work. Have checked out 
DialupModem wiki,
but doesn't make sense to me, am a slow learner.
Hi modem is a Netcom Unimodem, could anyone point me in a direction that 
may help me
get this setup for him, it's the first install I have done in this small 
town that looks like it's
promising, neighbour seems very keen to give Ubuntu a go, all that's 
missing is Internet
connection
