network sharing

i'm setting up my local fileserver with ubuntu desktop edition.

the network is quite hybrid - Win, MacOS, Linux ...

I want that everyone within the LAN can access the files on the
fileserver -> without authentication, passwords etc.

right now the samba-enabled fileserver always keeps asking me for
authentication when i try to connect. No matter what username/password i
enter - it won't let me in.

how can I get rid of this whole authentication thing & have a completely
open ubuntu'd ;-) fileserver for the LAN?

tia!
