I don't think you'll be happy with the performance of that box if you start
using an encrypted file system or a VM. Either will likely bring it to it's
knees.
Using a 233 as a web server is just dandy for light useage, but I'd never
combine a webserver with a backup file server. It's just asking for trouble.
Grab another old box at a lawn sale and use that for a web server, and put
the webserver outside your firewall. Then if it's broken it's no big deal.
